The error 46 on Brother Printer appears when the ink absorber pad is full and needs to be replaced. The ink pad is made up of sponge and used to collect excess ink that builds up during printing. If it gets full then you will see excess ink on your prints which need to be cleared out immediately because you will get the same amount of ink on every print until you replace the absorber pad.
Follow the given instructions to remove error code 46.
Step 1. Let the printer to stand into Maintenance mode:
Remove the printer power cord and hold down the Menu /Start or Set button.
Plug in the power cord while pressing down the button and hold it until you see Maintenance mode message on the display.
When the Maintenance message appears to leave the button.
Step 2. Reset the purge counter:
There are various ways to rest the counter on printers follow the given steps according to your printer.
If you have a number keypad on your printer
Press 80 on the keypad and using the down arrow key scroll through the Purge option.
Now, press 2783 and also enter the number beside the word Purge.
Enter press Stop button to exit the menu.
Type 99 to exit and then restart the machine.
For printers without the number pad
Navigate to Maintenance mode and follow the same steps as above but instead of setting the numbers with the number pad, use the down and up button to scroll through the numbers.
Move to 8 and press OK. Move to 0 and press OK.
Navigate to Purge option and hit OK.
Enter 2,7,8,3 to set the purge counter to 00000.
